Crafting

How to Craft

There are three steps to Crafting:

  1. Template Selection
  2. Material Acquisition
  3. Construction

Templates

(GM:) Templates should cover most items, but if there's an item not listed, we can figure something out! For now, most Vehicles will be out of reach to be completely scratch built.

Materials

(GM:) Crafting Materials (scrap, wires, power packs, etc.) will have a credit value and possibly a Type (ex: gadget, ranged weapon, droid, etc.). Items with higher rarity may need a specific rare part in addition to basic Materials.

Construction

During Construction, if the character succeeds, the item is fully functional and has the profile listed in its Template.

If the character fails on the check, the product that comes out of the attempt is unusable, and the Materials are lost.

Crafters can use and results to make improvements to the item. Then, the GM can spend and to add flaws. Unless a limit is specified, an option from these tables may be selected any number of times, and its effects stack.

The amount of time Construction takes is determined by the estimate of working hours listed in the template under Time. Every the character scores on the check beyond the first reduces the time by 2 hours (to a minimum of 1 hour). Other factors can also affect the time required, at the GM's discretion.

Droid Crafting

Droid crafting includes a 4th step:

  1. Program Directives

Droid Programming

While Programming a new droid, if the character succeeds, the droid is brought online.

If the character fails, the only thing lost is the crafter's time. The character can attempt to Program Directives at the next available opportunity.

Crafters can use and results to make improvements to the droid's mind and personality. Then, the GM can spend and to add flaws to its programming.

The amount of time Program Directives takes is determined by the estimate of working hours listed in the template under Time. Every the character scores on the check beyond the first reduces the time by 2 hours (to a minimum of 1 hour). Other factors can also affect the time required, at the GM's discretion.

Attachment Crafting

(GM:) There are no specific rules or tables for crafting Attachments from scratch, but someone could build a basic attachment, with no additional bonuses or qualities, with logical materials and appropriate cost. For example, a Comlink Armor Attachment could easily be built by breaking down a Comlink (long-range).

The Filed Front Sight attachment already has this built in to the rules, but attachments like Serrated Edge, Custom Fit, etc. could also fall into DIY territory.

The difficulty of the mechanics, computer, or survival check will depend on the complexity of the attachment.
