Vehicle Maneuvers

p. 232

In general, all Personal Maneuvers apply in all forms of combat (with a certain level of common sense).

Vehicle Maneuver Limitations

A vehicle with Silhouette 1-4 can benefit from one free Pilot Only Maneuver in a round, and can benefit from a second Pilot Only Maneuver if the vehicle suffers two System Strain.

A vehicle with Silhouette 5 or higher can only benefit from one Pilot Only maneuver in a round.

Multiple Pilot-Only Maneuvers

Single Pilot

If a vehicle has a single pilot, the pilot must also suffer two Strain (or downgrade their Action to a Maneuver) to perform two Maneuvers, as per combat rules.

Multiple Pilots

Some vehicles can have multiple pilots, in which case each can perform a Pilot Only maneuver and only the ship suffers the Strain.

Accelerate

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Current Speed: Any

The pilot may increase the vehicle’s current Speed by 1 or more, to a maximum of the vehicle’s maximum Speed. The vehicle suffers a number of System Strain equal to the amount its Speed increased minus 1, to a minimum of 0.

Decelerate

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Current Speed: 1+

The pilot may decrease the vehicle’s current Speed by 1 or more, to a minimum of 0. The vehicle suffers a number of System Strain equal to the amount its Speed decreased minus 1, to a minimum of 0.

Reposition

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Current Speed: 1+

The pilot may move the vehicle up to one Range Band. This Maneuver reflects minor repositioning to avoid obstacles, close or widen distance in a chase, or otherwise shift within the environment in small ways.

Evade

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Current Speed: 1+

Once per round, the pilot may perform this Maneuver to dodge incoming fire. Until the beginning of the pilot’s next turn, upgrade the difficulty by one of all attacks made against the vehicle and by characters in the vehicle.

Brace for Impact

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Current Speed: 1+

Once per round, the pilot may perform this Maneuver to dodge incoming fire. Until the beginning of the pilot’s next turn, upgrade the difficulty by one of all attacks made against the vehicle and by characters in the vehicle.

All Crew Vehicle Maneuvers

Angle Deflector Shields

  • Silhouette: Any
  • Speed: Any

Using this Maneuver, a crewmember with access to the shield controls can reassign up to one point of Defense from one Defense zone to another. For example, a player could shore up a vessel's forward Defense Zone with a point from its aft Defense Zone.

This Maneuver only works if the ship or vehicle has defense that can be reassigned, as with deflector shields.
